Rep. Melanie Stambaugh appointed to Education Accountability Oversight Committee

Rep. Melanie Stambaugh, R-Puyallup, has been appointed to the Education Accountability Oversight Committee (EAOC) by House Speaker Frank Chopp.
Stambaugh, who serves as the assistant ranking member on the House Education Committee, and also serves on the House Higher Education Committee, joins eight other legislators and one nonlegislative member on the EAOC.
“I care deeply about ensuring our students have every possible opportunity to succeed in the classroom and in life,” said Stambaugh. “It is an honor to be appointed to the Education Accountability Oversight Committee. I look forward to working with my colleagues to find innovative solutions that will improve outcomes for our students at every grade level.”
The EAOC was established to monitor outcomes regarding the improvement of student achievement, particularly in persistently low-achieving schools. The committee is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to the state board of education, the superintendent of public instruction, the governor and the Legislature.
